PANDORA
There are many interprtations of Pandora but generally in Greek mythology Pandora was the first human woman created by the deities by being molded from the earth. She was given a jar or urn, sometimes misrepresented as a box, which she was not to open but does so out of curiosity and thereby releases ills and evil gifts upon the world.
In this artwork I have given Pandora a setting which is more in keeping with the earliest of the myths in that she was given an urn and that she resided below ground.
