TUI SONG
The Tui is a bird native to New Zealand. It is mostly a bush bird but can still be found in
urban areas where food source trees such as the Kowhai, whose flowers are also pictured in this painting, are grown in gardens. While the bird is painted as representative, the background is
more abstract and alludes to the bird's call. Below you can listen to a short clip of an actual Tui call.
