Love and Life
SELF PORTRAIT ON K'rd WITH NASTASSIA KINSKI
The Vegas Girl on the advertising board was an iconic feature of K'Rd in the 80's through to the 90's. One of the many strip joints
in that part of town which hold fond memories of my adolescence. It is gone now, as the area slowly changes to cafes and boutique shops, shrugging off the red light district it once was, so I am glad I managed to get
this portrait done before it disappeared. As an artist of the nude figure perhaps I always admired it's comical yet alluring appeal.
Nastassja Kinski has always been my perfect dream girl, we all have them, and even as I age and there are new and younger beauties, they have never taken her place and I never fail to fall in love with her over and over in movies like Paris Texas or One From the Heart.
So this portrait is perhaps a whimisical look back at life, we all had dreams, many end up in the rubbish, I hold on to mine.
