THE STORY OF PETER PUMPKIN

Kids art print of Baron flying his red plane
Colourful Canvas Prints

Far from the big city is a sleepy little village.
The people that live there are happy and friendly and nice.
The buildings are all bright and shiny.
The air is clean and the water is fresh.
The name of the village is known as White Chalk.
And it's far from the city. . . well too far to walk.

Now past the village and still further away.
There is a little white farm house with a bright red roof.
It has a barn with a loft and a gate with a bell.
Surrounded by fields of pumpkins and peas.
And when the farmer takes them into White Chalk.
He rides on his tractor because it's too far to walk.

The farmer's name is Sam.
His wife is called Mary.
They are both very happy and smile all day.
But there is one thing missing they would like most of all.
A happy little child to call their own.
Someone who would bring joy and laughter to their home.

Then one clear, starry night as they sat on their porch.
Eating sweet cakes and sipping hot tea.
They saw a star fall down from the sky.
"Look!" pointed Sam. "Let us both make a wish."
So with all their heart and all their might.
They wished on the star that fell down that night.

Now out in the fields of pumpkins and peas, there stands a scarecrow.
With a long old coat filled up with straw.
His head is a pumpkin under a wide brim hat.
And the star that fell down with the wish upon it.
Landed right there in the scarecrow's pocket.

The very next morning when the farmer and his wife awoke.
It was a beautiful day.
The sun was shining and the birds were singing.
Then after a big breakfast it was time to work.
So farmer Sam went into the fields of pumpkins and peas.
Checking his crop and pulling out weeds.

Then farmer Sam noticed something quite strange.
The pumpkin scarecrow was nowhere to be seen.
Only the post stood where he had been.
He searched to the left and he searched to the right.
But the pumpkin scarecrow was nowhere in sight.

Then beneath the post what did he find.
Something quite amazing under the vines.
A little boy lay sleeping.
Wrapped in a long old coat and a wide brimmed hat.
With a little turned up nose and hair fiery red.
The farmer took him home to his wife and they both put him to bed.

There he lay sleeping quite safe and sound.
All of that day and all of that night.
Until once again the sun came around.
Then he awoke, yawned, stretched and sat upright.
"Hello" said farmer Sam and "Good morning" said Mary.
"Hello" said Peter cheerfully. And so begins his story.
