CATHEDRALS OF THE FOREST
Inspired by the lyrics of U2 I produced this painting as a reverence for nature. The large trees forming columns like those in a gothic church with their high branches simulating the arches and high rafters. In the background the yellow autumn leaves form a halo of gold around the girls head much like classical paintings would incorporate halos. A New Zealand Wood pigeon takes flight much like a dove in a church, a shaft of light filters through the canopy much like a ray of light through a stained glass window.
